Richard L. Jantz Stadium
Richard L. Jantz Stadium stands as the centerpiece of Southwestern College athletics, serving as the home for Moundbuilder football, men’s and women’s soccer, flag football, and track & field. Featuring a high-quality turf field and the Helmer Family Track—named in honor of legendary coach Jim Helmer—the facility provides an elite environment for both training and competition.
Originally known as Sonner Stadium, the facility was renamed in January 2009 to honor Richard L. Jantz and his impact on Southwestern College. Jantz Stadium has a rich history, including hosting the Sunflower Bowl from 1982–86, further cementing its place in Kansas collegiate athletics.
The stadium offers a strong game-day atmosphere with seating for 3,000 in the home grandstand and an additional 600 seats for visiting fans. In addition to athletics, the stadium also serves as the site for Southwestern College commencement ceremonies, making it a central gathering place for some of the institution’s most memorable moments.
Looking ahead, the ongoing construction of the DeHaven Center will further enhance the student-athlete experience, providing a new home for football offices, expanded athletic training facilities, and modern weight rooms.
Together, these elements make Richard L. Jantz Stadium a dynamic hub for competition, celebration, and Moundbuilder pride.
