Lund Reaches Sole Ownership of Clean Sheet Record, SC Women's Soccer Wins 2-0 over Bethel

Box Score

WINFIELD, Kan. – The Southwestern College women's soccer team seized a victory in thrilling fashion on Wednesday night, as they faced the visiting Bethel College Threshers at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. The 2-0 win led the squad to their longest undefeated streak in the program's history spanning from the latter stages of last season until now. Additionally, Mallorie Lund became the sole owner of the program's clean sheet record with the 11th of her career.

A night that started with a methodical pace of play from both sides ended in a great result for the Builder squad. Both teams struggled to find their rhythm at the start of the first period as neither side seemed to show any interest in attacking the opposition's goal.

Things would remain quiet in the battle until the 33rd minute of the game, when Jaidan Perez scored the first goal of her career with the Moundbuilders via an assist by Natalia Bak. Perez used a chance from long distance and uncorked a screamer into the top-right corner of the goal putting the Builders up 1-0.

The second half of the game started with another goal for the Builders. In the 50th minute of play, Hailey Rouse used a great pass into the pocket by Kenzie Saul, and scored the second goal for the Builders to cap off the brilliant effort.

Overall, the Builders outshot the Threshers by a 12-7 margin, and improved their overall Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) record to 4-0-2.

Another outstanding performance by Mallorie Lund helped her to grasp sole possession of the record for most clean sheets in program history. She now holds eleven clean sheets in her hands and has a substantial chunk of her career yet to be played.

The Builders (6-3-3, 4-0-2 KCAC) will now have a week off before they face McPherson College on Wednesday, October 12 at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. They hope to improve their undefeated winning record with an additional victory over the Bulldogs.
