Lee's Summit, Mo. - On Saturday, April 20^th, the Southwestern College Flag Football squad battled Midland University at the Paragon Sports Complex in Lee's Summit, Mo., for the KCAC Championship Quarterfinal. The Builders dropped the game against Midland, 26-0.
 
The first half saw both teams locked in a defensive struggle, resulting in a scoreless tie at halftime. However, the second half brought a flurry of action that favored Midland University.
 
Midland University broke the deadlock early in the third quarter when A. Ioane Kaio connected with A. Livingston on a 30-yard pass, putting them ahead 6-0 after a failed extra point attempt. Midland continued their offensive assault with another touchdown, this time A. Ioane Kaio found Alyssa Butler for a 28-yard pass, extending their lead to 13-0 after a successful extra point by Kobie Jay. The momentum stayed firmly with Midland as O. Dominguez-Mi intercepted a pass and returned it for 17 yards, increasing their lead to 20-0 after Emily Ferron's successful extra point kick.
 
Entering the fourth quarter with a commanding lead, Midland University wasn't satisfied yet. A. Livingston added insult to injury with a spectacular 53-yard punt return for a touchdown, making it 26-0, though the extra point attempt was once again unsuccessful.
 
Despite their efforts, the Builders couldn't find a response, and the game ended with a final score of Southwestern College 0, Midland University 26.
 
As the final whistle echoed across the field, it marked the end of a challenging but memorable season for Southwestern College. This game wasn't just another matchup; it was the last of their inaugural season, the first ever for the program at Southwestern College.
 
Throughout the season, the Builders flag football team had shown remarkable growth and determination. From the first practice to the final game, they had faced each challenge head-on, learning and improving with every play.
 
While today's result didn't go in their favor, the team can reflect proudly on their achievements. Despite being newcomers to the sport at the school, they had shown great potential and promise.
