Ottawa, Kan. – On Tuesday, April 23rd, the Southwestern College Softball squad travelled up to Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kan., as they played their final game of the season. The Builders dropped both games against the Braves.

Game 1 – 2:00 PM

Ottawa set the tone early in the game, scoring three runs in the first inning. A Southwestern error allowed M. Roever to score, followed by R. Hammons and E. Melvin driving in runs to give Ottawa a quick 3-0 lead.

The second inning saw Ottawa extend their lead even further, adding eight more runs to their tally. K. Enneking, A. Spencer, R. Pederson, R. Hammons, and M. Kennedy all contributed RBIs, while a combination of hits and errors by Southwestern allowed Ottawa to take a commanding 11-0 lead.

The Builders managed to get on the board in the third inning with a run scored by T. Henry, but Ottawa continued their offensive onslaught with R. Hammons and E. Melvin adding more runs to the board, extending their lead to 14-1.

In the fourth inning, Southwestern scored another run thanks to S. Showalter's hit, but it was not enough to overcome Ottawa's dominant lead.

Despite Southwestern's efforts, Ottawa's strong offense combined with solid pitching and defense secured them a decisive victory in this matchup.
