Builder Softball Drops Both Games on the Road Against Kansas Wesleyan University

SALINA, KAN. – On Saturday, April 7th, the Southwestern College Softball squad went on the road to battle Kansas Wesleyan University at Salina, Kan. The Builder fell to a strong Coyotes offense in both games.

GAME 1 | 1:00 PM

In the first inning, Kansas Wesleyan wasted no time asserting their dominance as J. Alcala drove in a run with a single up the middle, setting the tone for the rest of the game. They continued to capitalize on scoring opportunities, with O. Lowe's base running and J. Buhr's well-placed hit extending their lead to 4-0 by the end of the inning.

As the game progressed, Kansas Wesleyan's offense remained relentless. In the third inning, O. Lowe's triple to right field drove in another run, followed by Buhr's single to right field, further widening the gap.

Even in the later innings, Kansas Wesleyan continued to apply pressure, capitalizing on Southwestern College's defensive errors. E. Flores and J. Alcala took advantage of opportunities, driving in runs and solidifying their lead.

Unfortunately, the Builders were not able to get anything going as they had to take defeat against the Coyotes.

GAME 2 | 3:30 PM

The second game showed similar tendencies as the Builders were not able to get on the scoreboard as they lost 8-0. The first inning saw E. Flores kickstart the scoring with a powerful double to right center, bringing S. Fordham home and putting Kansas Wesleyan on the board early. Building on this momentum, they continued to dominate in the second inning, as S. Fordham's double to right center drove in two more runs, extending their lead to 3-0.

Kansas Wesleyan maintained their offensive pressure in the third inning, with O. Lowe's single to center field bringing in another run, followed by J. Buhr's groundout and G. Pierce's sacrifice fly, each contributing to the growing lead.

Their relentless pursuit of runs didn't wane as the game progressed. In the fifth inning, J. Soule's double and A. Thibert's single added two more runs to the scoreboard, solidifying Kansas Wesleyan's commanding lead.

The Builders will be back on Tuesday, April 9th, when they travel to Leavenworth, Kan., to battle the University of Saint Mary.
