SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Southwestern College women's soccer fell 2-0 to Evangel University on Wednesday night at Coryell Field in Springfield, Mo., in the Moundbuilders' ninth Conference matchup of the season.

Evangel's Amaura Austell opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a cross from McKenzie Calhoun to put the Valor ahead early. The home side doubled its lead in the 83rd minute when Makayla Myers found the back of the net off an assist from Sarah Wilkins, sealing the 2-0 result.

Southwestern (3-6-3, 3-3-3) held its own through long stretches of the match, recording eight total shots with three on goal. Junior forward Millie Hazzard led the attack with three shots, including one on frame, while Abigail Webb and Maggie Bielefeld each added a shot on target. Senior defender Natalie Belanger and freshman forward Adi Pemberton also generated pressure late in the second half.

In goal, Hayden Clark turned away one shot while facing consistent pressure from the Evangel offense, which outshot Southwestern 12-8 and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

Defensively, Hanna Culp and Maggie Bielefeld anchored the back line, logging 85 and 90 minutes respectively, while Lou Forder and Sarah Hobrecht helped steady play through the midfield.
