William Woods Edges Southwestern College 12-0 in KCAC Quarterfinal

RIVERSIDE, Mo. —Southwestern College's season came to an end Friday evening with a hard-fought 12-0 loss to William Woods University in the KCAC Women's Flag Football Championship quarterfinals in Riverside, Missouri.

The No. 5-seeded Builders (6-7, 6-6) battled the No. 4-seeded Owls (13-5, 6-3) in a defensive struggle, holding the game scoreless through the first half behind strong performances from Mary Jones and Teagan Smith. Southwestern intercepted two passes and forced multiple punts to keep William Woods off the board early.

Quarterback Kennedi Hayes led the Builders offensively, completing 15 of 27 passes for 126 yards. Vivianna Solis caught three passes for 39 yards, while Shariffa Piamonte added a 31-yard reception to spark a key drive late in the contest.

William Woods broke through midway through the third quarter on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Makenzie Hicks to Olivia Perkins. The Builders responded with a sustained drive, pushing inside the Owls' 5-yard line, but were unable to convert after a strong defensive stand.

The Owls added another score in the fourth quarter on a 46-yard touchdown pass to Adeline Chilek.

Despite the final result, Southwestern finished with 139 yards of total offense and controlled possession for nearly 30 minutes. Olivia Manfre averaged 39.3 yards per punt to help the Builders win the field position battle.

Jones led the defense with five solo tackles, while Hayes and Manfre each recorded an interception.

Southwestern concludes the 2025 season with its second consecutive KCAC playoff appearance and an optimistic outlook heading into next year.
