WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College will open Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer play Wednesday, Sept. 17, on the road against Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Moundbuilders (0-3) are looking for their first win of the season after close nonconference losses to Oklahoma Panhandle State, Southwestern Christian and nationally ranked Science & Arts. Goalkeeper Hayden Clark has 31 saves in three games with an .838 save percentage, while Millie Hazzard and Natalie Belanger lead the team with one goal each.
Friends (2-1) has won two straight, outscoring Central Christian and Texas Wesleyan by a combined 9-0. The Falcons reached the NAIA National Championship first round last year. Junior forward Kieley Aranda leads Friends with three goals, while goalkeeper Morgan Wilkinson owns a .824 save percentage.
Southwestern defeated Friends 1-0 last season in Winfield behind a second-half goal from Ella Wiechman and five saves from Clark.
