Box Score WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College picked up another KCAC victory Saturday night, defeating Bethel College 1-0 at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
The Moundbuilders controlled the match offensively, finishing with a 21-1 advantage in shots and putting nine shots on goal. The win improved Southwestern to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in KCAC play.
Southwestern created chances early, with Millie Hazzard hitting the crossbar in the fourth minute before Jade Smallwood gave the Builders the lead in the 17th minute.
The Builders continued to put pressure on Bethel throughout the second half, recording 16 shots after halftime. Smallwood and Hazzard each finished with six shots, while Maggie Bielefeld, Abigail Webb and Amiyah Baker each added two.
Southwestern's defense kept Bethel from creating much offensively. The Threshers finished with just one shot and did not record a shot on goal. Liliana Hernandez earned the shutout in goal for the Moundbuilders.
The victory gives Southwestern its fourth conference win of the season as the Moundbuilders improve to 4-2 in KCAC play.
