COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — Southwestern turned in several solid performances Thursday at the Dean Pryor Invite hosted by Coffeyville Community College.

Freshman Luke Peffer led the Moundbuilders with a third-place finish in the men's long jump, posting a mark of 6.78 meters (22 feet, 3 inches). Peffer also placed fourth in the men's high jump, clearing 1.87 meters (6-1½).

On the women's side, Abigail Eckert recorded a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a top leap of 4.30 meters (14-1¼). Eckert also competed in the 100 meters, finishing in 13.41 seconds.

Other Southwestern highlights included Manuel Reyes finishing seventh in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09 seconds and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.38.

In field events, Malia Pearson placed ninth in the women's shot put with a throw of 10.71 meters (35-1¾) and 10th in the hammer at 34.20 meters (112-2). Vanessa Mendoza added a 14th-place finish in the shot put at 9.29 meters (30-5¾) and was 17th in the hammer at 32.29 meters (105-11).

Additional men's performances included Emerson Williams placing ninth in the shot put with a mark of 12.96 meters (42-6¼), while Anthony Mendoza finished 22nd in the hammer with a throw of 34.66 meters (113-8).

On the track, Ben Patowski ran 11.11 seconds in the men's 100 meters and 23.30 seconds in the 200 meters, while Jack Titgemeyer clocked 2:23.96 in the 800 meters and Jamell Sanchez posted a time of 5:15.55 in the 1,500 meters.

Lauryn Peterson represented the women's distance group with a time of 3:09.88 in the 800 meters.

Southwestern will be back in action on March 28th, as the Builders travel to Arkansas City to take on the Mark A. Phillips Tiger Open hosted by Cowley Community College.
