WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College women's soccer hits the road for its first KCAC road match of the season Saturday, Sept. 19, as the Moundbuilders travel to York, Neb., to take on York University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the York Soccer Complex.

Southwestern enters Saturday with a 1-5 overall record and an 0-1 mark in conference play. The Moundbuilders are coming off one of their strongest performances of the season Wednesday against Friends University, battling the Falcons in a 1-0 loss at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.

The Moundbuilders kept the match scoreless for more than 84 minutes and created several opportunities of their own. Millie Hazzard put a shot on goal late in the second half, while Abigail Webb and Amiyah Baker also helped Southwestern continue to push forward in the closing minutes. Friends eventually scored the game's only goal in the 85th minute.

Southwestern will look to carry that defensive effort into Saturday while finding more opportunities in the attacking third. The Moundbuilders have shown they can produce offensively this season, highlighted by their six-goal performance in a shutout victory over Central Christian earlier this month.

York opened the season with back-to-back draws against Doane and Mount Marty before earning a 3-0 victory over Midland. The Panthers were picked 11th in the KCAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, one spot behind Southwestern.

The two teams met last season in Winfield, with Southwestern earning a 1-0 victory over York.
