WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College women's soccer continues KCAC play Wednesday, Sept. 23, as the Moundbuilders travel to Leavenworth, Kan., to take on the University of Saint Mary. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Charles Berkel Memorial Stadium.
Southwestern enters the matchup 2-5 overall and 1-1 in KCAC play after earning a 1-0 road victory over York University on Saturday. The win was the Moundbuilders' first since defeating Central Christian 6-0 on Sept. 2 and gave Southwestern its first conference victory of the season.
The Moundbuilders put together one of their strongest defensive performances of the season against York, allowing just two shots over the full 90 minutes. After a scoreless first half, Amiyah Baker broke through in the 64th minute off a pass from Millie Hazzard to give Southwestern the lead.
Saint Mary enters Wednesday 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Spires opened KCAC action with a 2-1 loss at Ottawa before falling 3-0 to Tabor on Saturday. Saint Mary has scored twice through its first five completed matches.
Wednesday will be the second straight road conference match for Southwestern. The Moundbuilders will look to build off Saturday's win as they continue the early portion of their KCAC schedule.
