WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College women's soccer team battled No. 15 Oklahoma Wesleyan University through a scoreless first half Wednesday night before falling 3-0 at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.

Southwestern entered the match riding a three-game winning streak and held its own defensively against one of the top teams in the KCAC. The Moundbuilders kept the Eagles off the scoreboard throughout the opening 45 minutes despite facing seven shots.

The match remained scoreless into the 61st minute before Oklahoma Wesleyan broke through. Ana Chaves scored the opening goal at the 60:55 mark to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Oklahoma Wesleyan added another goal just over five minutes later before scoring its final goal in the 78th minute. Southwestern was unable to create the same opportunities on the offensive end, finishing the match with one shot.

The loss moved the Moundbuilders to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in KCAC play.

Southwestern will stay home for another KCAC matchup Saturday, Oct. 3, against Bethel College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
