WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College women's soccer returns to the road Saturday, Sept. 5, as the Moundbuilders travel to Hastings, Neb., to take on Hastings College in a nonconference matchup.
Southwestern enters the match with a 1-2 record after picking up its first win of the season Wednesday with a 6-0 victory over Central Christian College. The Moundbuilders opened the season with losses to Southwestern Christian and Northwestern College (Iowa) before getting into the win column against the Tigers.
Southwestern was able to create plenty of chances in Wednesday's win, finishing the match with 28 shots and putting 14 on goal. The Moundbuilders recorded 13 shots in the first half before adding 15 more after halftime.
Amiyah Baker led the Moundbuilders with two goals against Central Christian with Shaylona Rollings assisting both. Madeleine McNeill, Jade Smallwood, Wendy Conde-Diaz and Millie Hazzard also found the back of the net for Southwestern.
Hastings enters Saturday with a 2-1-1 record and is coming off a 4-1 win over Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday. The Broncos and Moundbuilders will meet as both teams continue the nonconference portion of their schedules.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Lloyd Wilson Field in Hastings, Neb.
