WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College women's soccer fell 6-1 to Hastings College Saturday morning at Lloyd Wilson Field in Hastings, Neb. The loss moves the Moundbuilders to 1-3 on the season.

Hastings opened the scoring in the 11th minute before adding its second goal in the 39th minute. Southwestern had its first opportunity late in the opening half as Emily Brundege recorded a shot in the 43rd minute, but the Moundbuilders went into halftime trailing 2-0.

Southwestern cut into the deficit early in the second half. An own goal by Hastings in the 52nd minute brought the Moundbuilders within one at 2-1.

The score remained 2-1 for the next 10 minutes before Hastings responded with a goal in the 62nd minute. The Broncos added two more in the 69th and 70th minutes before scoring their final goal in the 78th minute to bring the score to 6-1.

The Moundbuilders will have a week off before returning home Saturday, Sept. 12, to host Southern Nazarene University at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
