DeMarcus Spurlock is in his second year of coaching the Builder defensive line, under head coach Brad Griffin in this 2019 football season.
Coach Spurlock joined the Builder Football coaching staff in July 2018, where he continues to impart his defensive line knowledge.
Prior to Southwestern College, Spurlock played at Texas A&M University - Kingsville in the starting line-up during the 2013-2017 football seasons. He played in 43 games for the Javelinas with 33 starts at linebacker. He was an All-Lonestar Conference selection in 2015, 2016, and 2017. After redshirting in 2013, Spurlock recorded 179 tackles in 43 games from 2014-17.
Spurlock came to Winfield after spending the 2017 season completing his undergrad in Kingsville, Texas. In 2018, alongside current Southwestern head coach Brad Griffin, the rookie Builders defensive line coach, has improved the defensive line play, coaching one of the players Second Team All-KCAC distinction. The team ranked second in the KCAC with 31 sacks, and placed 17th nationally.
A native of Houston, Texas, Spurlock earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from TAMUK in 2017. He is currently pursuing his MBA at Southwestern
