Donnie Wallace

  • Title
    Head Coach

Former Wichita Collegiate head coach Donnie Wallace has been hired as the new head coach for the Lady Builder volleyball program at Southwestern College.

"We are excited to announce that Donnie Wallace has been hired to take over our volleyball program," said athletic director Dave Denly. "The energy and enthusiasm that Donnie will bring to the program excites us as our volleyball team looks to become competitive in the KCAC again. The success that Donnie enjoyed at the high school level as a young coach, including winning a state championship, will hopefully help him as he starts the rebuilding process with our program. We are also looking forward to having someone who has a history in the region of south central Kansas which will hopefully assist him as he starts to recruit players into the Lady Builder program."

Wallace replaces Cori Meyer-Broddle, who resigned as coach following the 2010 season after five years of leading the program.

"I'm excited and humbled to be a part of the great community at Southwestern College," Wallace said. "My volleyball system is fun to play and exciting to watch. The team will be motivated by my energy and passion. Our players will play hard and have a relentless will to succeed."

Donnie comes to Southwestern from Wichita Collegiate High School where he built a very impressive resume in a short amount of time. Wallace took over the Collegiate High School volleyball program in 2008. The Collegiate team in the previous two seasons before Wallace became head coach had won a total of 20 matches. His team went 26-10 in his first year and went 40-1 in his second year which included a class 3A state championship. In his final season at Collegiate, the Spartans were 30-9.

Wallace is also the club director and founder of the Wichita Xpress volleyball club team.

Prior to coaching at Collegiate, Wallace was a graduate assistant basketball coach at Wichita State University. Wallace also coached at Cuyamaca College in San Diego, CA. for two seasons as an assistant basketball coach.

Wallace prepped at Goddard High School where he was a standout basketball player. He was named a Nike All-American, a McDonalds All-American Nominee, and a USA Today All-American honorable mention selection. Wallace was also an All-State selection for two years and an All-League selection for three years.

Wallace played collegiately at Kansas State University where he was named to the academic All-Big 12 team. He then went on to play at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where he was part of a top 10 team in the country and also part of a team that set a school record for wins with 25.

Wallace resides in Wichita and is married to Danielle Wallace. The Wallace's currently have two children, a daughter, Anya, who is seven, and a son, Logan, who is two. The Wallace family enjoys watching movies, cooking great food, and playing sand volleyball.
