Jeff Hoskisson was named Southwestern College's Head Coach of Men's and Women's Track & Field in December of 2022, and is in his first season at the helm of the Moundbuilder programs.
Hoskisson makes his way to Winfield with great experience, having coached in various capacities across the high school level and four collegiate levels (NCAA DI, NCAA DII, NAIA, JUCO). His two most recent stops were within the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), as he was the head coach at Bethel College from 2016-2019, and then moved on to McPherson College, where he was an assistant from 2019-2021.
Prior to those opportunities within the State of Kansas, Hoskisson was an assistant at perennially ranked Eastern Oregon University, which is his alma mater. He received his Bachelor of Science from the institution in 1984. In his time coaching there from 2012-2016, he was once named the USTFCCCA Assistant Coach of the Year in the western region. Seven individuals were national champions in his time at EOU, and he was a part of sending 78 qualifiers to nationals.
Just before his return to Oregon, he was employed by Central Methodist University as their head coach of track & field from 2006-2011. He was a four-time Coach of the Year at CMU, and improved the program amazingly, as his student-athletes posted 177 school records and 100 national qualifiers in his tenure. He also boasts a total of 44 individual conference champions, 18 NAIA All-Americans, and four individual national champions in his time there.
He served in the NCAA DI ranks at his two stops prior to CMU, as he served in assistant capacities at both Marquette University (1998-2002) and Western Michigan University (2002-2004). A total of 64 school records were broken during his time at Marquette, and two national qualifiers were posted. At WMU, two qualifiers also made their way to nationals.
At the University of Central Missouri (1993-1996) and Emporia State University (1996-1998), Hoskisson got a taste of the NCAA DII level, serving as an assistant for both institutions. Across those two programs, he assisted in leading 21 All-Americans and 23 national qualifiers, including 12 individual conference champions.
The College of Southern Idaho was his first collegiate position as an assistant coach, as he served in the role from 1990-1992. An outstanding 15 school records, 13 individual conference champs and nine national qualifiers were racked up over those two years. The squad also had one team conference championship during Hoskisson's stead.
He has had multiple experiences with USATF during his career, having served as a member of the US Men's World Junior Track & Field Championships Staff in Plovdiv, Bulgaria in 1990. Additionally, from 1989-1993, he was a member of the USATF Men's Olympic Sprint Development Committee.
Ultimately, Hoskisson's experience in leading collegiate track & field programs is undeniable, and Southwestern College looks forward to seeing his leadership in action over the coming months.
