NORTH NEWTON, KAN. – On Saturday afternoon, September 30th, the Southwestern College women's soccer team traveled north to battle the Threshers of Bethel College at North Newton, Kan. A game where the Lady Builders showed confidence ended in a 7-1 win.
The game started in favor of the Builders as Daniela Barrantes Perez started the goal series early on in the 2nd minute of the game, as she scored the first goal of the game, assisted by Ana Llanos. Just minutes later, Barrantes added another goal to her count, as she scored the second goal in the 6th minute to put the Builders up by two. She was assisted by Bryanna Kuhn.
The game went on, but the Builders did not stop. In the 30th minute, Lydia Travis added another goal to the scoreboard. The Builders, now up by three goals, showed confidence in their play, which resulted in more goals. Kuhn started to show her goal-scoring ability as she scored in the 35th and 39th minute to change the score to 5-0 Builders before halftime. Her second goal was assisted by Jaidan Perez .
Coming back from halftime, the Builders started where they stopped the first half. Bryanna Kuhn went right back into goal-scoring and added her third goal of the day in the 50th minute.
The Threshers, who have not put any pressure on the Builder's goal, were able to score a goal in the 59th minute to change the score to 6-1.
To finish things, Millie Hazzard scored the last goal in the 70th minute to make the game a final 7-1 win for the Builders. She was assisted by Abby Webb.
The Builders (3-5-2, 2-2-1 KCAC) are now preparing to battle Avila University on Wednesday, October 4th at 5:00 p.m. at Richard L. Jantz Stadium in Winfield, Kan.
