LEAVENWORTH, KAN. – On Wednesday, October 25th, the Southwestern College women's soccer team made their way up north to battle the Saints of the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. A stormy game ended in a 2-0 loss for the Builders.
The Builders started the game by putting pressure on the Saints goalkeeper. Shot by Lydia Travis and Natalie Belanger were saved, and Ana Llanos just missed right. Both teams kept fighting, and the game seemed to favor the Builders. Unfortunately, the Saints had other plans and scored right before halftime in the 42nd minute to take the lead.
Coming back from halftime, the Builders once again had the majority of possession and shots. Shots by Lillian Grisso and Jaidan Perez were saved by the Saints, and Nicole Mcdonald missed wide. The game went on, and the Saints decided to end it when they scored another goal in the 89th minute of play, making the game a final 2-0 win for the Saints.
Ana Llanos led the Builders in shots (4), where two went on goal.
The Builders (7-7-3, 6-4-2) are now preparing to face Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday, October 28th, at 2:00 p.m. at Salina, Kan., for their last regular season game.
