SALINA, KAN. – On Saturday, October 28th, the Southwestern College women's soccer team made their way to Salina, Kan., where they battled the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan University for their last regular season game. A windy game where both teams fought till the end ended in a 1-1 tie.
The game started in favor of the Coyotes as Maleia Jackson scored the first goal in the 20th minute to take the lead for Kansas Wesleyan.
Both teams had their fair amount of chance but could not add another goal to the scoreboard in the first half of play. Returning from the locker rooms, the Builders showed more commitment and passion in the game. In the 57th minute, the Builder received a free kick just outside the box. Lillian Grisso placed the ball on the ground, took a few steps back, ran up, and curved the ball in the top right corner of the goal to tie the game 1-1.
The game went on, and both teams kept fighting for the win. In the end, no more goals were scored, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Builders (7-7-4, 6-4-3 KCAC) finished their regular season and qualified for the first round of playoffs, where they will battle the Falcons of Friends University.
