Hays, Kan. – On Saturday, September 2
nd, the women's soccer team traveled up north to battle the Tigers of Fort Hays State University. The Builders encountered a strong Tiger offense and could not stop a defeating score of 4-0.
The game started in favor of the Tigers as Kelly Sullivan scored the first goal of the game in the 2
nd minute of the game. Just moments later in the 19
th minute, Hannah Mares of the Tiger's offense used her chance to improve the Tigers lead to 2-0.
The Builder were struggling from the start on and could not get anything going in the first half. Zero shots and only one corner was not enough to put any type of pressure on the Tigers of Fort Hays.
Coming back from halftime, the Builders were not able to hold the early pressure of the Tigers as they added another goal to the scoreboard in the 48
th minute of the game. Being down by three goals, the Builders tried to start a comeback with shots by
bryanna kuhn and
Daniela Barrantes Perez but ultimately were not able add a goal on the Builder side. Instead, the Tigers added their final goal to the score to make win the game over the Builders.
The Builders were able to improve their shot (3) and corner (7) count in the second half of the game but were not able to compete against a strong Tiger offense.
The Builders (0-3-1) will be back in action on Monday, September 4
th, at 1:00 PM when they battle the Eagles of Southwestern Christian University at Bethany Okla.
