WINFIELD, Kan – The highly-anticipated Bishop's Cup, Kansas Wesleyan (1-1) at (11) Southwestern College (2-0), will kick off Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 pm, at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.
The Coyotes enter the match up coming off a dominate win against Bethany, 31-3. As the Builders are 2-0 on the season and coming off a road win at Avila last week, 49-42.
SC's quarterback,
Braden Howell was last week's KCAC Offensive Player of the Week for his 351 yards throwing and four touchdowns in the win over Avila. And Kansas Wesleyan debuted their new quarterback in the second game of the season, Daeden Taylor, who missed the season opener, but still threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns of his own.
Last week the Coyotes dominated the ground game with 300 yards rushing. While the Builders had 168 yards on the ground and the majority of the work was split between backs,
Jarious Burnett and
Martez Jones. Burnett had 53 yards on nine carries and Jones had 44 yards, eight carries, and two touchdowns. Â
The Coyotes defense held Bethany to a field goal last week, and will look to be an obstacle for the Moundbuilder's offense this week in the Bishop's Cup.
At halftime, the KCAC 2023 Men's Basketball Tournament championship team will be honored. Each member of the team will be receiving their championship rings.Â
Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm at Richard L. Jantz Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 9, on the campus of Southwestern College.
