WINFIELD, KAN. - On Wednesday, January 31
st, the Southwestern College women's basketball squad hosted play to the visitors of Avila University at Stewart Field House in Winfield, Kan.

The game started with a closely contested first quarter, concluding with Southwestern holding a narrow lead at 10-9. Field goal percentages were 12.50% for Southwestern and 26.67% for Avila.

Avila seized control in the second quarter, outscoring Southwestern 14-4. This shift in momentum reflected in the halftime score, with Avila leading 23-14.

The third quarter witnessed an offensive resurgence from both teams. Southwestern posted 19 points, narrowing Avila's lead, but the Eagles maintained control with a score of 23. Field goal percentages notably improved, with Southwestern at 42.86% and Avila at 62.50%.

The final quarter remained fiercely contested, with Southwestern putting up a determined effort to close the gap. However, Avila secured a narrow victory with a 21-19 score in the fourth quarter, concluding the game with a final score of 67-52.

Christy Wiebe delivered a standout performance for Southwestern College, contributing 24 points and securing 11 rebounds.

rd, at 5:00 p.m. when they battle Sterling College at Sterling, Kan., as they hope to earn their first win of the season.
