Southwestern College Women's Soccer Edges McPherson 1-0 on the Road

McPHERSON, Kan. – Southwestern College women's soccer secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over McPherson College in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) play. The match was decided by a first-half goal from Trista Overton, her first of the season, as the Builders earned a crucial win.
 
The game's lone goal came in the 37th minute when Overton broke through the McPherson defense and fired a shot past the goalkeeper, giving Southwestern a 1-0 lead. The Builders maintained that advantage through the rest of the match, thanks to a strong defensive effort.
 
Southwestern controlled much of the match, outshooting McPherson 8-1. The Builders' defense was stout, preventing McPherson from registering a single shot on goal as the failed to challenge with a shot on target.
 
Overton led the Builders' attack with her timely goal, while Lily Del Toro and Taylor Leedy contributed to the offensive pressure, with each registering shots on goal. McPherson's defense managed to keep the match within reach, with their goalkeeper making three saves on the day.
 
Southwestern will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 16, hosting Friends University at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
