WINFIELD, Kan. - The Southwestern College's basketball team will hit the road October 16th to McPherson College on an undefeated 4-0 record to start the season. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m.
Southwestern has started their season on a high note with wins over Benedictine College 67-52, Randall University 100-66, Northern New Mexico 96-68, and most recently over Haskell Indian Nations 57-49.
Leading Southwestern to start the season is senior Justin DeMaria, averaging 13.7 points per game through the first 4 games of the season.
Alongside DeMaria with a hot start to the season is Junior Zach Hidalgo, averaging 13 points per game and is currently second in the country for rebounds with 15 per game. Hidalgo's dominance in the paint, grabbing rebounds and getting points is gonna be crucial against McPherson.
McPherson had a heartbreaking loss to cross town rival, Central Christian, 88-87. Putting their overall record at 1-1. Mcpherson led by standout star Junior, Aaron Williams Jr who averages 19 points per game.
Mcpherson's Curtis Rose is averaging 15.5 points per game. He also holds the 4th highest 3pt percentage in the country so far this season. Southwestern defense will need to be on point if they are wanting to shut these two down.
