WINFIELD, Kan. — The Moundbuilders (8-1, 2-1) asserted their dominance on the gridiron, dismantling Bethany College (3-6,0-4) with a resounding 62-7 victory in a key conference matchup.
Kiare Worthy set the tone early, returning an interception for a touchdown that energized the home crowd. His performance did not stop there; he added four tackles to his defensive contribution, playing a pivotal role in Southwestern's commanding display.
Wide receiver
Bryce Chambers caught five passes for 87 yards and scored three touchdowns. He was joined in the end zone by teammates
Joe Smyth, JB Burnett,
Eric Erbe,
Matthew Holthusen, and
Hunter Reaves, all of whom contributed to the overwhelming offensive output.
Defensively, the Moundbuilders were equally formidable. In addition to Worthy's interception,
DreShaun Flowers registered three tackles and an interception returned for 32 yards, further stifling any hopes of a Swedes comeback. By halftime, Southwestern had built a commanding 27-7 lead, leaving Bethany struggling to respond.
Looking ahead, the Moundbuilders prepare for a critical matchup against the Evangel Valor in Springfield, MO, on November 9.
