WINFIELD, Kan.  — Southwestern College fell just short against the University of Saint Mary on Saturday night, losing a tightly contested game, 75-70, in Winfield. The Builders pushed hard in the closing minutes but couldn't overcome Saint Mary's fourth-quarter surge.

Macy Pond led the Builders with a great performance, recording 26 points, including four three-pointers, and going 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. Christy Wiebe added a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, dominating on the boards.

Southwestern battled hard defensively, forcing five steals and notching five blocks. Jerranay Echols contributed on both ends with seven points, eight rebounds, and five assists.

The game remained competitive throughout, with both teams trading leads. Southwestern led 34-33 at halftime but was outscored 31-24 in the second half as Saint Mary capitalized on late free throws and perimeter shooting.

Alanis Delgado paced Saint Mary with 22 points, while Addison Schletzbaum grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds, securing key possessions for the visitors.

The loss drops Southwestern to 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
