WINFIELD, Kan. The Southwestern College Moundbuilders (1-4, 1-2) welcome the Ottawa University Lady Braves (4-4, 1-2) to Stewart Field House in what promises to be an exciting Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) showdown on Wednesday, December 4th, for a 5:00 PM tip-off. Both teams are looking for their second win in conference play and to establish themselves in the regular season hunt.Â
Moundbuilders by the NumbersÂ
Southwestern has relied on senior guard Christy Wiebe for scoring, with Wiebe averaging 12.8 points per game. Wiebe has remained a key contributor, also pulling down 8.8 rebounds per contest. Another player to watch is Macey Pond, with 7.8 points per game. Pond has shown flashes of brilliance lately in conference play. This includes a massive eruption for 26 points on 7-11 shooting from the field and 4-8 from 3-point land last game against Saint Mary. Jerranay Echols is averaging 8.4 points per game and has contributed solidly with six rebounds per game. Echols has also been playing great for the Builders lately, as the former KCAC player of the week looks to have another great game to help the Builders pull off an upset.Â
The Braves by the Numbers
The Lady Braves are led by Dominique Schutte, a dynamic senior forward who has been a consistent force for Ottawa, averaging 11.0 points per game and pulling down 4.0 rebounds. Another key player for Ottawa is Abbie Sextro, a guard who is averaging 11.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Sextro has been excellent in both scoring and rebounding, and her versatility will be essential in this game as Ottawa looks to pull out a tough game on the road. Janiyah Hendricks, a forward, has been a strong presence on both ends of the floor, contributing 11.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Hendricks' ability to stretch the floor and shoot from outside (34.6% from three-point range) will put pressure on Southwestern's defense.
