ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Moundbuilders claimed their second win of the day and the season with a 3-1 victory over Harris-Stowe University. The Builders won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-20 before dropping the third 21-25. They rebounded to secure the match with a dominant 25-14 win in the fourth set.
Gabi Theut led Southwestern with 15 kills, while
Hannah Weber added 13 and
Adeline McIntire contributed 7.
Natalie Blaufuss paced the offense with 18 assists and also served up three aces. On defense,
Avery Riedel tallied 17 digs, while McIntire recorded a match-high 3.0 blocks.
The Moundbuilders recorded a .169 hitting percentage with 50 kills on 136 attempts, while holding Harris-Stowe to a .095 hitting percentage and just 31 kills. With the win, Southwestern improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Builders are back in action on the road at Ozark Christian College, Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6pm in Joplin, Mo.
