Lady Builders vs York Game Preview

1/2/2025 9:14:00 PM

WINFIELD, Kan. - The York University Lady Panthers will make the trek across the sunflower state to take on the Lady Builders in the historic Stewart Fieldhouse. Both teams are searching to gain momentum before they battle the last half of their KCAC schedule. York has struggled to find their rhythm this year as they are coming into the game with a (2-8) overall record. Southwestern has struggled to pull games out as well and share nearly the same amount of heartbreaks that York has, with an overall record of (1-8).

This sets the stage to be a pivotal game for these teams if they are looking to start with momentum as they surge into the new year. The Builders are of course led by double-double queen Christy Wiebe, as she is averaging (14.7 ppg) and (8.4 rbg). On her side is hot shooting Macey Pond. Pond has been consistantly scoring in the double digit column as she averages (9.8 ppg) on 31 percent three point shooting and 37 percent from the field. The Builders will no- doubtly look to get these two involved from the jump, as they continue to look for ways to space the floor in get the offense in rhythm early. On the defensive side of the ball, the Builders will likely key in on a double digit scoring duo. Destiny Shepard (11.8ppg) and Britney Schroer (10.4 ppg), are the scoring leaders for the Panthers and limiting their touches and shot attempts will likely be the game plan.

The Builders look to Capitalize on this opportunity to gain momentum by taking care of business their first game back from Christmas break back in the Field House. Delivering the first punches and establishing in inside presence with Wiebe's physicality will prove to be necessary if the Builders want to ignite a spark to being the last half of their season.
