Game Preview: Lady Builders vs. Lady Bluejays

WINFIELD, Kan. – The Southwestern College Lady Builders will host the Tabor College Lady Blue Jays at Stewart Field House on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 6:00 p.m. in a key conference matchup.

The Lady Builders (2-12,2-9) enter the game on a six-game losing streak, most recently falling 88-62 to Sterling College on Jan. 18. Southwestern has struggled to find consistency this season, averaging 64.7 points per game while allowing 79.3. Their defense has been a major issue, as they've been outscored by an average of 14.6 points per game.

Southwestern's offense is led by senior Christy Wiebe, who averages 15.1 points per game. Junior Macey Pond has been solid, contributing 11.5 points per game and hitting 28 three-pointers this season. However, the Lady Builders have struggled with shooting efficiency, posting a team field goal percentage of just 32.2%.

Tabor College (15-4,10-2) enters the game as one of the top teams in the conference. The Lady Blue Jays are riding a four-game winning streak and are averaging 67.9 points per game. They boast a balanced attack, with senior Alyvia Owens leading the way at 11.6 points per game, while sophomore Kassidy Beam adds 8.3 points per game and a team-high 47 assists. Tabor has been dominant on the boards, out-rebounding opponents by a margin of 7.8 per game.

Historically, Tabor holds a strong advantage over Southwestern, winning nine of the last 10 meetings. The Lady Builders' last victory over the Blue Jays came on Feb. 18, 2016, with a 59-58 win. Southwestern will look to break their losing streak and upset the conference powerhouse at home.
