WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College Lady Builders return home to face McPherson College in a KCAC showdown on Saturday, seeking their second conference victory of the season.

Southwestern (1-10,1-8) will look to bounce back from a tough stretch, having dropped their last eight games. Despite the results, the Lady Builders have found positives in junior Macey Pond's leadership, as she leads the team with 128 points this season, averaging 11.6 points per game. Senior Christy Wiebe has been another standout performer, contributing 150 points and shooting 78.3% from the free-throw line.

The last meeting between these two teams on Nov. 17 resulted in a 65-58 victory for Southwestern on the road. The Lady builders capitalized on their defensive efforts, forcing 17 turnovers and holding McPherson to 31.9% shooting. Freshman Jerranay Echols led the way offensively in that game with 20 points, including four three-pointers, while Wiebe contributed a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

McPherson (0-15, 0-9) is still searching for their first win of the season. Senior Kennedy Smith, who tallied 12 points and 19 rebounds in the first matchup, leads the Bulldogs with 9.9 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per contest. Gillian Rodgers has added 9.9 points per game, shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs struggle with offensive efficiency, shooting 33.4% as a team, but they are scrappy on the boards, averaging 37.9 rebounds per game. Turnovers have plagued McPherson, as they average 18.5 per game, and they face challenges defensively, allowing opponents to shoot 41.5% from the field.

Southwestern will aim to replicate their success from the earlier meeting and secure a crucial conference victory. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Stewart Field House.
