Bartlesville, OK. — Southwestern College could not slow down one of the nation's top teams Tuesday night, falling 3-0 to No. 3 Oklahoma Wesleyan in a Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer match.
The Moundbuilders (6-4-0, 3-2-0 KCAC) were limited to three shots on goal and outshot 11-3 overall, while the Eagles (6-0-3, 4-0-1) remained unbeaten in conference play.
Oklahoma Wesleyan struck first in the 23rd minute on a goal by Nemanja Vukovic. The Eagles doubled their lead just before halftime, scoring again at the 44:26 mark to take a 2-0 advantage into the break.
Southwestern goalkeeper KJ Masso made eight saves to keep the Builders within striking distance, but the offense struggled to find opportunities. Jack Bagley-Etheridge, Devon Ambrosio and Alex Shaw recorded the team's only shots on goal.
Carter Ligi extended the Eagles' lead in the 70th minute, and Julian Tovar added a penalty kick later in the half.
Southwestern will look to bounce back Saturday when it travels to Bethel College for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff in North Newton, Kansas.
