WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern looks to build upon its 62-0 road victory over Avila when the Moundbuilders travel to Sterling to take on the Sterling College Warriors in the opening Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Bissell Division matchup. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Smisor Stadium, the only remaining grass playing surface in the KCAC.
Southwestern (5-1) enters week eight as one of the most robust offensive teams in the NAIA. Averaging an NAIA-best 580.5 yards per game and a second-best 52.8 points per game. Quarterback Jamie Odom continues to command the Builders offense in dominant fashion, totaling 1,749 yards in the air and an additional 268 yards on the ground through six games. Senior receiver Aidan Koenig has risen to the occasion over the past two weeks after a multitude of offensive injuries for the Builders, hauling in nine passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns in week six. Running back Joshua Mazyck continues to lead the Moundbuilders ground game, totaling 209 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in 2025.
Sterling (1-5) enters the matchup off a tough 34-26 loss to Bethel (Kan.). Quarterback Rocklin Baptista looks to continue his recent success after tossing four touchdowns and accumulating 379 passing yards in his last two appearances for the Warriors. Wide Receiver Ryan Stucky leads the way for the Warriors receiving core, looking to add to his number of 70-plus yard touchdown receptions this season (2).
Defensively, Sterling has forced three fumbles, two interceptions, and has scored one defensive touchdown during the 2025 campaign.
Southwestern's defense has thrived across the first six weeks of the season, allowing only 254 yards of total offense and 14.5 points per game. Defensive backs Corey McCoy and Adrian Holman lead the way for the Builders' defense with four pass breakups and one interception apiece through six weeks of play.
