Moundbuilders Visit Randall in Final Nonconference Tune-Up

WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College volleyball will look to bounce back on the road Thursday with a nonconference matchup against Randall University in Moore, Oklahoma.

The Moundbuilders enter the week with an 8-16 overall record, including a 2-8 mark in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Southwestern has proven capable of strong stretches this season, sweeping four opponents in straight sets and earning notable road victories at Sterling and Avila.

Senior outside hitter Autumn Bennett has been a steady force for the Builders, tallying 194 kills with a .229 hitting percentage. Freshman Mikki Johnson has emerged as one of the team's top contributors, leading the offense with 197 kills (2.66 per set) while adding 72 digs and 17 block assists.

Ashlyn Tag and Macey Collier have provided additional firepower at the net with 161 and 116 kills, respectively. Setter Natalie Blaufuss has guided the offense with 370 assists (4.68 per set) and 26 service aces.

Libero Avery Riedel anchors the defense, averaging 3.61 digs per set and serving as a key piece in serve-receive, while freshman Reece Likes has made an impact from the service line with 27 aces.

Southwestern ranks near even with its opponents in total digs (1,151 to 1,168) and continues to improve at the net, averaging 4.4 blocks per match. Collier and Haleigh Weber have combined for 75 total blocks to lead the front line.

Despite their overall record, the Moundbuilders have been competitive throughout the year — going five sets in three matches and extending 15 contests beyond straight sets.

Randall enters Thursday's matchup at 8-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Saints are led offensively by Addyson Day, who has totaled 167 kills with a .218 hitting percentage, and Ella Seay, who adds 105 kills and a .316 efficiency. Setter Kylie Thompson directs the attack with 377 assists (7.25 per set) and a team-high 30 aces.

Defensively, libero Alana Hutchins paces Randall with 164 digs (4.10 per set), while Seay leads the team in blocks with 58.

Southwestern will look to carry its recent progress into the nonconference matchup and gain momentum before returning to KCAC play next week.
