SALINA, Kan. — Southwestern College exploded for 626 yards of total offense and rolled past Kansas Wesleyan 59–28 on Saturday at Bissell Field, closing the regular season with a dominant road performance.
Bryce Chambers set the tone immediately, breaking a 70-yard touchdown run on the game's first play. The Moundbuilders never slowed, scoring on nine drives and averaging 9.9 yards per play. Quarterback Jamie Odom delivered a sharp outing, completing 26 of 43 passes for 390 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding a 12-yard rushing score. Southwestern finished with 406 passing yards and 220 rushing yards as a team.
Chambers proved unstoppable in multiple phases, adding 127 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions to his long scoring run. Wide receiver Joe Smyth gashed the Coyotes for 109 rushing yards on just seven carries, including a 40-yard score.
Senior receiver Matthew Holthusen led all pass catchers with 11 receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown, while Aidan Koenig and Odom each hauled in touchdown passes during Southwestern's diverse offensive attack.
Defensively, Southwestern held Kansas Wesleyan to 5.1 yards per play and came up with timely stops, highlighted by linebacker Britt Wittschen's 11-tackle, one-sack performance.
The Builders scored in every quarter and went a perfect 7-for-7 in the red zone, building leads of 31–7 at halftime and 52–14 early in the fourth.
Southwestern finishes the regular season 8–3 overall and 3–2 in KCAC Bissell Division play.
