WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College men's basketball team will return to Stewart Fieldhouse on Monday, Nov. 3, for a noon matchup against Randall University in the annual Champions of Character game. The contest is officially sold out as the Moundbuilders look to continue their strong start to the 2025–26 season.
Southwestern (1-0) opened the year with a dominant 101-63 win over Hesston College on Oct. 28. Senior guard Wyatt Bell led all scorers with 26 points, showcasing his veteran leadership in the season opener. Junior Evan Barber added 16 points, while sophomore forward Zach Hidalgo anchored the paint with 10 rebounds.
Head coach Matt O'Brien's squad will look to maintain that early momentum before heading to the Haskell Tournament later in the week.
Randall University enters the matchup searching for its first win of the season after starting 0-3 with losses to Friends University, Southwestern Christian, and Kansas Christian College. The Saints are led by senior guard Kainan Ryan, who has averaged 18.7 points per game through three contests. Junior Blestin Miller and sophomore Carson Thomas have provided additional scoring with 12 and 11 points per game, respectively.
With a packed Stewart Fieldhouse and an emphasis on sportsmanship through the Champions of Character initiative, Monday's matchup promises to be a spirited affair as the Builders aim to stay perfect on their home court.
