HESSTON, Kan. — Southwestern College used a dominant night from senior guard Macy Pond to roll past Hesston College 81-63 on Wednesday, snapping a three-game skid and pulling even at 4-4 on the season.
Pond delivered one of the program's most complete performances, finishing with a triple-double on 27 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 40 minutes. She shot 11 of 19 from the field and added two 3-pointers while leading all players in scoring and rebounding.
Breanna Goad gave the Builders another strong option on the perimeter, scoring 17 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting night. The junior guard knocked down three 3-pointers and added a steal while playing 37 minutes.
Martha De La Rosa provided a reliable scoring punch from deep, adding 15 points behind four makes from beyond the arc. She totaled three rebounds and two assists and went 3 of 4 at the foul line in 27 minutes.
Kennedy Ford controlled the interior, posting a double-digit rebounding effort with 10 boards to go with 10 points. She shot 3 of 8 from the floor and added three assists as Southwestern dominated the glass by a 44-29 margin.
Allyson Frank chipped in four points and four rebounds in her 14 minutes, while Emma Parker and Aubrey Pond each added four points. Aubrey Pond contributed six rebounds, helping the Builders maintain their edge on second-chance opportunities.
Southwestern shot 46.3 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from 3-point range, including a 56-percent burst in the second quarter to build a 14-point halftime lead. The Builders pushed the margin further with a 25-point third quarter before closing out the win.
Southwestern returns to action seeking its first conference win after improving to 4-4 overall. The Lady Builders are back on the road after Thanksgiving break, at Ottawa, Wed., Dec. 3, at 5 p.m.
