PERU, Neb. — Peru State dominated the glass and the foul line to beat Southwestern College 80-62 in a nonconference women's basketball game Wednesday night.
The Bobcats led 19-11 after one quarter and 40-32 at halftime, then pushed the margin to 20 late in the third. Peru State finished with a 50-27 rebounding edge and went 21 of 22 at the line.
Southwestern's Macey Pond had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Breanna Goad added 18 points with four 3-pointers and four steals. Martha De La Rosa scored 11 and Kennedy Ford had 9 points and 7 rebounds for the Lady Builders.
Peru State's Erison Vonderschmidt led all scorers with 25 points and 10 boards. Kylie Diaz added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and MaKinley Tobey had 16 points.
Southwestern shot 10 of 24 from 3-point range (41.7%) but was outscored 22-2 in second-chance points and 42-14 in the paint.

The Lady Builders will remain on the road for another contest Saturday, November 8, in McPherson, Kansas, against Central Christian College tigers for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
