Builders Travel to Ottawa for KCAC Matchup

OTTAWA, Kan. — Southwestern College carries momentum into Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play Wednesday, traveling to Ottawa University for a 7 p.m. matchup at Wilson Field House.

The Moundbuilders are 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the KCAC after a 68-64 win over No. 11 Saint Mary. Ottawa enters at 5-3 overall and 2-1 in league play in the first full season under head coach Jamie Batish Martelly.

Southwestern has been led by guard Wyatt Bell, who tops the KCAC at 22.3 points per game and adds 5 rebounds a contest. Guard Evan Barber is averaging 16.7 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Builders. Forward Zach Hidalgo leads the team on the glass at 7.9 rebounds per game.

Ottawa's scoring is paced by Martelly Rich at 16.3 points per game, with Micah Willis close behind at 15 points per game. Willis is shooting .500 from 3-point range. Kuol Reech leads the Braves with 6.9 rebounds per game.

Southwestern won last season's meeting 76-58. Hidalgo had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Bell scored 18 points and Barber finished with 14 points, including 6-for-6 shooting at the free-throw line.
