Southwestern College Season Ends at Saint Mary, 88-70, in Final Conference Game

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – The Southwestern College women's basketball team gave a strong effort in their final conference game of the season, ultimately falling to the University of Saint Mary, 88-70.

Despite the loss, the Lady Builders (4-20, 4-18 ) showed resilience throughout the game, especially in the first and third quarters. Southwestern fought back against a effective Saint Mary offense, but the Spires (13-15, 12-10) were able to build a significant lead during the second quarter, which the Lady Builders could not overcome.

Christy Wiebe led Southwestern with 17 points and 10 rebounds, delivering an impressive double-double performance. Kennedy Ford added 14 points, including three 3-pointers, helping to keep the team within striking distance. Callie Scott also contributed with 9 points and 4 assists, demonstrating strong play making abilities.

The Spires were led by Demi Aamold, who tallied 20 points and 4 rebounds, and Katelynn Ostronic, who finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Despite Saint Mary's solid shooting and rebounding efforts, Southwestern's defense kept the game competitive, with the Lady Builders forcing tough shots in key moments.

Southwestern shot 38.7 percent from the field, including 9-of-22 from beyond the arc, while Saint Mary shot 49.3 percent overall and 10-of-26 from 3-point range. The Lady Builders were out rebounded 37-27, but their determination to keep battling through adversity was evident in the fast-paced, high-energy style of play throughout the game.
