WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College's women's basketball team heads to Bartlesville on Feb 5 , aiming to avenge an early-season loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan in a crucial KCAC matchup.

The Moundbuilders (3-15, 3-13) will look to snap a two-game skid and rebound from their 95-85 defeat at the hands of the Eagles back on Dec. 11 in Winfield. In that contest, Southwestern struggled early, falling behind 31-16 after the first quarter, and despite a strong second-half effort, couldn't close the gap.

Senior Christy Wiebe paced the Builders in the first meeting, scoring 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting while adding four rebounds and three blocks. Jerranay Echols tallied 16 points and three steals, while Haven Matthews contributed 15 points. Despite the offensive production, Southwestern struggled defensively, allowing Oklahoma Wesleyan to shoot 49.3% from the field, including 11-of-20 from beyond the arc.

The Eagles (10-12, 7-9) enter the matchup coming off a 61-69 loss to Bethany and will look to complete the season sweep over Southwestern. Haley Meely, who scored  30 points in their last meeting and curently  leads OKWU with 16.8 points per game while shooting 43.7% from the field. Zariah Tillman, who added 22 points in the first meeting, is another key scoring threat.

Southwestern will need to tighten up its defense and take better care of the basketball, as the team has averaged 17.7 turnovers per game while being out-rebounded by an average of 10.3 boards per contest. The Builders will also look to lean on their three-point shooting, where they have connected on 30.0% of their attempts this season.

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at the Mueller Sports Center in Bartlesville.
