Tabor Tops SouthwesternÂ
Winfield, KS – April 18, 2025 — Game 1
Southwestern College battled hard at Broadway Field on Friday afternoon, but despite an explosive start and strong offensive moments, the Moundbuilders fell to the visiting Tabor Bluejays, 13-6, in a high-scoring KCAC matchup.
Southwesterm came out swinging in the bottom of the second inning, putting up four runs to erase an early 5-0 deficit. Andrew Brautman delivered a clutch RBI single to spark the rally, while J. Horn drew one of his three walks and swiped a base to help keep the pressure on Tabor. Horn also chipped in an RBI single in the third to pull the Builders within one.
Southwestern's offense finished with 12 hits on the day, including a solo home run by Luca Dincola and a double from Brautman. Every starter in the lineup reached base, and six different players scored or drove in runs.Â
Winfield, KS – April 18, 2025 — Game 2
In the second game it was all Blue Jays, as the Moundbuilders ran out of fight. Southwestern only put up 1 run to Tabor's 20. Offensively, the Blue Jays were unstoppable, putting up 18 hits on 40 at-bats, including two home runs. However, despite the offensive explosion, the star of the game came from Tabor's bullpen. Senior pitcher Evan Williams will likely be a strong candidate for NAIA national player of the week with his 18-strikeout performance in only a seven-inning game. The performance was unstoppable and was a school record for Tabor.Â
The Builders will face Tabor again tomorrow at Broadway Sports Complex at 1:00 PM.
