WINFIELD, Kan.— Southwestern College will make its KCAC flag football postseason debut Friday evening when the No. 5-seeded Builders take on No. 4 William Woods University in a quarterfinal matchup at 5:30 p.m. in Riverside, Missouri.

Southwestern (6-6, 6-6) enters the playoffs with momentum, having split its regular season evenly. The Builders are led offensively by quarterback Kennedi Hayes, who has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns. Wide receiver Olivia Manfre anchors the receiving corps with 679 yards and nine scores.

William Woods (12-5, 6-3) boasts a potent aerial attack, with quarterback Makenzie Hicks passing for 2,226 yards and 33 touchdowns this season. Evonne Bruestle and Kennedy Vannoy have emerged as top targets, combining for 962 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.

The teams met once during the regular season, with the Owls defeating the Builders 32-12 on March 15 in Fulton, Missouri. William Woods pulled away in the second half, scoring 20 unanswered points in the third quarter. It was Southwestern's only game against the Owls in program history.

While the Owls dominate through the air, the Builders hold a slight edge on the ground, averaging 33.7 rushing yards per game compared to William Woods' -0.6. Defensively, both teams have been opportunistic. Southwestern has picked off 21 passes this season, led by Manfre with eight. William Woods counters with 26 interceptions, including seven by Addie Chilek.

Southwestern averages 198.3 yards of total offense per game and has scored 24 passing touchdowns. William Woods averages 186.5 yards, with 33 touchdowns through the air. Third-down efficiency could play a role, with the Builders converting 21.6 percent of attempts, while the Owls convert just 15.8 percent.

Friday's game marks the beginning of the KCAC postseason tournament. The winner will advance to the semifinals and continue pursuit of the conference championship.
