Bethany Sweeps Southwestern to Close 2025 KCAC Baseball Season

WICHITA, Kan. – Southwestern College dropped its final two games of the 2025 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) baseball season on Monday, falling to Bethany College in a doubleheader played at West Side Athletic Fields due to inclement weather in the area.

Game 2 | Southwestern 0, Bethany 3

In the opener, the Moundbuilders were blanked 3-0 as Bethany capitalized on key scoring opportunities and defensive miscues. Southwestern managed five hits but was unable to push across a run. Raisean Dorsey and J.J. Cardinal each collected a hit, while Marco Ayala and M. Meinen also chipped in singles. Lucas Knee provided a pinch-hit single late in the contest.

On the mound, Jason Kramlich (0-1) took the loss, tossing five innings while allowing one earned run on five hits and striking out six. Conner Peck impressed in relief with a scoreless sixth inning, recording three strikeouts. Dante Bravo kept the Builders within striking distance, throwing two innings and allowing just one hit with three punchouts.

Game 3 | Southwestern 2, Bethany 3

In the finale, Southwestern fought back but ultimately fell 3-2 in a tightly contested matchup. Shortstop Andrew Brautman provided the offensive highlight of the day, launching a two-run home run in the fifth inning to briefly tie the game. Brautman finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a walk, also adding a stolen base.

Jace Horn singled and Marco Ayala and Preston Carrillo each recorded hits as the Builders totaled four hits in the contest. M. Meinen scored a run and swiped a base, while Skyler Espinoza also showed aggressiveness on the basepaths with a stolen bag.

Starting pitcher Gannon Dow worked three innings, surrendering one unearned run on two hits with three strikeouts. Jayden Hensley followed with four strong innings, allowing only two hits and an unearned run while striking out four. Jaxon Burns (0-1) was tagged with the loss after Bethany plated the go-ahead run in the eighth.

Despite the late push, Southwestern could not overcome Bethany's clutch hitting down the stretch. The Moundbuilders close the season aiming to build on the strong performances from their young roster heading into the offseason.
