WINFIELD, Kan. — The Southwestern College Builders (6-5, 6-5) will close out their regular conference schedule with a rematch against the Baker University Wildcats (7-5, 6-2) on Thursday, April 10, at 6 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kansas.
This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, with Baker emerging victorious 34-12 in the first matchup on March 1.
The Builders are led by quarterback Kennedi Hayes, who has passed for 1,795 yards and 22 touchdowns this season. Hayes will look to build on her previous performance against Baker, where she struggled to find success against the Wildcats' defense. Southwestern's offense is ranked near the middle of the pack in total yards, averaging 206.1 yards per game.
The Wildcats, on the other hand, have been solid both on the ground and through the air, with quarterback Tara Llorente leading the team with 1,402 passing yards and 17 touchdowns. Baker has outpaced Southwestern in offensive production, averaging 209.0 yards per game. However, the Builders' defense has shown resilience, allowing only 220 points this season, while Baker's defense has conceded 205 points.
Southwestern's key players will include wide receiver Olivia Manfre, who has tallied 648 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. On defense, Andrea Moon and Teagan Smith have been standouts, combining for 99 tackles on the season.
Both teams will be looking to finish the season strong, with playoff implications on the line. For the Builders, a win would give them momentum heading into the postseason. For Baker, a victory would solidify their place in the top half of the conference standings.
