WINFIELD, Kan. —Southwestern College opens play in the 2025 NAIA Women's Flag Football Finals on Monday, May 5, at the Kansas City Current Training Facility in Riverside, Missouri. The Builders (6-7) will compete in Pool D with two matchups scheduled on opening day. The national tournament runs May 5–8, with 14 teams battling for a spot in bracket play beginning May 7.
Game 1: Southwestern vs. St. Thomas – 10:00 a.m.
Southwestern faces St. Thomas University (10-2) in its tournament opener. The Bobcats enter as one of the highest-scoring teams in the field, averaging 31.1 points per game behind quarterback Brooke Bogatz, who has thrown for 2,202 yards and 32 touchdowns. St. Thomas also features a strong receiving corps and a defense that has recorded 30 interceptions this season.
The Builders will counter with quarterback Kennedi Hayes, who leads the team with 2,022 passing yards and 23 touchdowns. Olivia Manfre is Southwestern's top target with 705 receiving yards and nine scores. On defense, the Builders have forced 21 interceptions, including five from Vivianna Solis.
Game 2: Southwestern vs. Warner – 2:00 p.m.
Southwestern returns to the field in the afternoon to take on Warner University (13-1), one of the most explosive offensive teams in the NAIA. Warner has scored 427 points on the season and is led by quarterback Kathryn Hutchinson, who has passed for 2,360 yards and 44 touchdowns. Jessica Finley leads the Royals' receivers with 1,169 yards and 22 touchdowns.
The Builders will look to disrupt Warner's passing game with pressure from defensive standouts Andrea Moon and Teagan Smith, and continue to capitalize on turnovers. Southwestern's defense has allowed just 24.8 rushing yards per game and remains one of the most opportunistic units in the tournament.
The top teams from each pool will advance to bracket play on Wednesday, May 7. Championship matchups will take place Thursday, May 8, in Riverside.
