WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College men's soccer opens the 2025 season Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Central Christian College at Richard L. Jantz Stadium, coming off a strong 2024 campaign and aiming to build further momentum this fall.
Southwestern finished last season 6-8-2 overall, including a 6-5-2 mark in KCAC play. The Moundbuilders return all four of their KCAC honorees, highlighted by senior captain Jack Bagley-Etheridge, who scored six goals with three assists. Sophomore forward Marcos Benavidez added five goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Connor Inlow contributed five goals and one assist. On the defensive end, sophomore Adrian Gimenez appeared in 15 of 16 matches and played a key role in helping Southwestern earn the most conference points in program history.
Central Christian closed 2024 with a 5-10-2 record, including a 1-7-1 finish in conference play. The Tigers were led offensively by senior forward Marco Cherchi, who tallied six goals and four assists. Goalkeeper Timothy Foster anchored the defense, appearing in 10 matches and recording 36 saves while posting a 4-3-1 record.
Wednesday's opener will give both programs an early opportunity to measure their progress and set the tone for the fall campaign.
