WINFIELD, Kan. — Southwestern College will close out its non-conference schedule Saturday when the Moundbuilders host Central Baptist College at Richard L. Jantz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
Southwestern enters the matchup with a 2-2 record after splitting its first four games of the season. The contest serves as the Moundbuilders' final tune-up before Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play begins.
The Moundbuilders (2-2) are coming off a 3-0 win over Randall University. Senior captain Jack Bagley-Ethridge led the attack with two goals and an assist, giving him a team-high three goals and two assists through four matches.
Bagley-Ethridge, senior Connor Inlow and junior midfielder Marcos Benavidez have paced Southwestern's offense. Inlow has scored three goals on six shots for a .500 shooting percentage, while Benavidez has found the net twice. The trio has provided momentum as the Moundbuilders look to close nonconference play with another victory.
Central Baptist (0-2-1) enters Saturday's matchup still looking for its first win of the season. The Mustangs are coming off a scoreless draw with Texas A&M–Texarkana on Sept. 9 after opening the year with a 3-0 loss to Central Methodist and a 4-0 defeat against Oklahoma City.
While they have yet to find the back of the net, the Mustangs have generated 16 shots through three matches. Senior forward Billy Murray has started every game and accounts for five of those attempts. In goal, senior Jasper Gadellaa has logged all 270 minutes and recorded 20 saves.
Southwestern will look to add another victory and use Saturday's contest as a final tune-up before opening conference play the following week.
